Ross Video has an exciting new opportunity within our Creative and Technical Services department based out of our Ottawa, Ontario facility. We require a Lead Training Documentation Producer to help us create a wide variety of training materials to support effective delivery of product training to our valued customers. The successful candidate will work closely with the demo and training team's Product Primes as well as each of Ross Video's Product Teams to develop, write, edit, proofread, and produce a variety of training collateral, including: training guides, online application modules, training course agendas, manuals, quizzes, Ross employee internal training Belt Program content, and other training related documentation and materials as required. This will span all of Ross Video's product lines, which include: Production Switchers, Automated Production Control, Character Generation & Graphics, Robotic Cameras, Routing Systems, Video Servers, Master Control, Terminal Equipment, Social Media Management, and Network Control & Monitoring.
 
Position Overview:
 
The successful candidate will work closely with the demo and training team’s Product Primes as well as each of Ross Video’s Product Teams to develop, write, edit, proofread and produce a variety of training collateral, including: training guides, online application modules, training course agendas, manuals, quizzes, Ross employee internal training Belt Program content, and other training related documentation and materials as required. This will span all of Ross Video’s product lines, which include: Production Switchers, Automated Production Control, Character Generation & Graphics, Robotic Cameras, Routing Systems, Video Severs, Master Control, Terminal Equipment, Social Media Management, and Network Control & Monitoring.
 
As the Lead Training Documentation Producer, this position will also, in time, manage other Junior Training Documentation Producers as the department grows.
 
Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountability:
 

Training Documentation Writing:

 

  • In depth understanding of training methodologies and how to write and produce effective training guides and online training modules for end users
  • Accurate execution of the Ross Documentation and Presentation Style Guides
  • Accountable for the accuracy and quality of work delivered for each specific project
  •  Create user-oriented documentations and tools targeting readers of all technical levels
  • Provide regular status report updates to the Manager, Demonstration Artists & Trainers
  • Maintain ongoing communication with product development teams, product managers, product specialists and other subject matter experts to ensure that content, documentations and online training modules are accurate, complete and current
  • Maintain ongoing communication with product/project stakeholders
  • Visit customer sites; observe or deliver training to ensure that materials are meeting customer needs
 
Other Duties:
 
  • Become a subject matter expert for Ross Video products
  • Participate in post mortem reviews, what worked, what didn't, what we can do better
  • Oversee or contribute to logistics of printing and delivering documentation to customers
  • Stay informed of new training methodologies
  • Awareness of competitor's products
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as related to training documentation production
 
Job Requirements:
 

Knowledge/Education/Training:

 

  • Post-secondary degree in English, Journalism, or related area with experience in technical writing is required
  • 5+ Years of technical writing or directly related experience
  • Strong knowledge of word processing and document creation tools (MS Word, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Working knowledge of content creation tools (MS PowerPoint, Camtasia, Captivate, Fullshot, Adobe Photoshop)
  • Knowledge of product development lifecycle(s) is desired
  • Experience with collaborative and or iterative development model(s) is desired
  • Knowledge of broadcast workflows and production an asset
  • Experience delivering training in a broadcast environment is an asset
